BAC RECRUITMENT - HIGHLY EXPERIENCED TEST AND DEVELOPMENT TECHNICIAN REQUIRED

Overview

BAC is seeking a highly talented and experienced Test and Development Technician to be part of the current and future product developments team in the BAC Innovation Centre. The ideal candidate can work independently and perform assembly and installation of parts, components and systems. They will be thorough in performing functional tests to ensure quality conforms to high-level company requirements, standards and specifications, as well as responsible for assuring function, safety and final quality acceptance of installations, structures and components.

Tasks/Responsibilities

  • Build prototype/test cars with guidance from the Engineering and Design teams

  • Work with suppliers in relation to test car build/parts

  • Carry out geometry / suspension set-up

  • Carry out testing with direction from Chief Technical Officer

  • Test drive vehicles and complete necessary documentation/reporting  

  • Test components and work on development with the Engineering and Design teams

  • Operate data logger, read data and complete reports

  • Investigate/fix issues with development parts, new parts and used parts complete all documentation/reporting

  • Take the lead in issues regarding electrical components, chassis control and engine control systems, communicate with suppliers to investigate and rectify issues, either in the workshop or remotely through BAC agents

  • Technical support at launch events

  • Complete technical documents, build manual and “how to” documents for BAC agents and customers

  • Driving of the BAC van and trailer to test/track days/events when required

  • Adhere to all applicable health and safety as operational procedures and directives 

Qualifications/ Skills/ Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years proven experience as technician

  • Experience in automotive, motorsport or performance car industries

  • Widespread knowledge in vehicle components, technologies, systems such as engines, gearboxes, suspensions, automotive fluid systems, electrical and electronic systems

  • Knowledge of common assembly, testing and quality assurance practices

  • Self-motivated and able to work independently, in a team and cross functionally

  • Able to work to company goals and to strict time targets

  • Administrative skills to prepare and maintain documentation and quality records

  • Computer skills needed
