The Evolution of Mono
Over 15 years, the BAC Mono has become lighter, more powerful and more technologically advanced without ever losing sight of what made it different in the first place.
2011–2016 — The Original Mono
The beginning of the Mono story.
Launched in 2011, the original Mono introduced BAC’s One of a Kind Mono concept to the world. Powered by a 2.3-litre engine producing 280bhp, it established the fundamental Mono formula: a lightweight, single-seat machine designed entirely around the driver.
2016–2020 — Mono (W)
A wider, more advanced Mono.
In 2016, BAC introduced the Mono (W), bringing a wider chassis, carbon fibre interior and a larger 2.5-litre engine producing 305bhp.
This generation demonstrates how BAC began pushing the original concept further, introducing greater performance and more advanced materials while retaining the unmistakable single-seat layout.
2020–2024 — Mono R
The second-generation Mono.
Mono R represented a major step forward in BAC's development story, introducing the company's second-generation design language and combining significant advances in light weighting, design and performance.
At 555kg and 343bhp, Mono R became the lightest and most powerful Mono produced at the time.
2023–2025 — Mono
A new generation, with the original philosophy intact.
The latest generation of Mono continued the fundamental idea established in 2011: placing the driver at the forefront.
At the same time, BAC brought its latest design, engineering and technological developments to the car, creating a new interpretation of the Mono rather than simply repeating the formula of previous generations.
Mono CUP - Track-Focused Evolution
When Mono leaves the road behind.
The Mono CUP takes the single-seat concept to its most extreme track-focused interpretation. Designed specifically for dedicated track enthusiasts, it represents BAC's philosophy of driving as a pure sport.
Rather than treating the CUP as simply another generation, position it as a branch of the Mono story — showing what happens when BAC takes the core concept and removes the compromises of road use.
2026 - the Lastest Mono
The most technologically advanced Mono yet.
The Model Year 2026 Mono continues BAC's original single-seat philosophy while introducing a significant new layer of adaptive technology. Rather than simply increasing performance, the latest Mono gives the driver greater control over how the car responds to different environments and driving styles.
At the heart of the MY26's new technology is BAC's adaptive motorsport ABS system, developed to prioritise both safety and performance. Unlike conventional road-focused ABS, the system can be tuned through the Mono's different driving modes — from a stability-focused setting for road and wet conditions through to a setting optimised for maximum stopping performance on track.
The 2026 Mono also introduces BAC-developed Electronic Stability Control (ESC), integrated with selectable drive modes through the new driver interface.
Four driving modes allow the character of the car to change with the environment:
Road/Wet — Maximum stability and predictability, with the greatest ESC and traction-control intervention.
Sport — Reduced electronic intervention for more spirited road driving and initial track exploration.
Track — Reduced ESC and traction-control intervention, with ABS prioritising the shortest possible stopping distance.
AYC Off — ESC and traction control are switched off for maximum driver involvement, while the adaptive ABS remains active.
More than a decade separates the first Mono from the 2026 car, but the fundamental proposition remains the same: one driver, one seat, and a machine designed around the experience of driving.
